The Rotary Club of Thomaston and the Litchfield-Morris Rotary Club joined forces to feed the hungry this Spring.

Harvest Pack is a local, solely volunteer organization that works hard to fight hunger both in the United State and abroad. The meals that Harvest Pack provides are complete, healthy and nutritious that are ready to be cooked and shared.  Each pack contains vegetables, soy protein, rice, flavouring, vitamins and minerals and will feed up to six people! The organization works with partners and other existing organizations to ensure that the meals are transported and distributed to those in need at no extra cost.
They support organizations like Rotary clubs, churches and schools to host packing events. The money raised goes solely to purchase the foods that are included in each pack. Then people come together to work to pack the meals and get them ready to be shipped out.
Together the Rotary Club of Thomaston, the Thomaston High School Interact Club and the Litchfield-Morris Rotary Club raised enough money to pack about 75,000 meals!
A group of about 70 volunteers from the two clubs as well as the Thomaston High School Interact club worked for three hours and packed 38,000 meals to be shipped to hurricane victims in North Carolina and in Haiti. We will be hosting a second packing event soon to finish our contribution!
